The Marine Corps' Prepositioning (MCPP) Program is based on Blount Island in Jacksonville, Florida and requires duty assignment aboard a ship in Guam, Saipan, or Diego Garcia. K provides maintenance and logistics services to the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy.
Job SummaryPerforms basic automotive mechanic duties related to inspection, maintenance, and repair of the Ordnance family of vehicles (LAV, AAV, M1A1, AVLB, and towed artillery). Provides technical assistance, guidance, and training to lower level mechanics and assists higher level mechanics. Performs other tasks as assigned.
Basic Qualifications- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Four (4) years of directly related work experience.
- Completion of the Light Armored Vehicle Repairman Course or equivalent.
- Knowledge of engines, hydraulic systems, transmission, and other parts and systems.
- Ability to detect faulty items, diagnose malfunction causes, and determine best repair methods.
- Ability to assemble, disassemble, repair, or modify components and systems.
- Ability to read and interpret parts lists, manufacturer repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Thorough understanding of the principles of operation and required repairs of all components and sub-components including hull, suspension, engine, transmission, turret, crane, winches, and sub-components.
- Working knowledge of requisitioning requirements using appropriate Stock List, Parts Manuals, etc.
- Knowledge in the proper utilization of test equipment, diagnostic equipment, and special tools.
- Valid passport.
- Valid State Motor Vehicle Operator License.
- Compliance with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to the position.
- U.S. Citizen.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) and Base Access.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
