The M.C. Dean, Inc. Maritime Division works at shipyards around the world from our regional offices in Jacksonville, FL, Chesapeake, VA, and San Diego, CA. Join our Alteration Installation Teams supporting C4
ISR system installations on ships and submarines. Be part of a top waterfront team offering competitive compensation and benefits.
Skills and Proficiencies:
- Lead a crew of installers for single-site installations.
- Brief site personnel on installation status and plans.
- Red-line as-built drawings accurately.
- Identify and correct installation errors, including wiring and standard violations.
- Support cabling, equipment, and device installations as a Senior Installer.
- Operate common installation hand tools and test equipment skillfully.
- Attach fiber optic, RJ-45, and DB connectors efficiently, ensuring a professional appearance.
- Perform complex mechanical, sub-assembly, rack, and chassis assembly with expertise.
- Demonstrate strong leadership abilities.
- Maintain superior workmanship in mission-critical environments.
Other Responsibilities:
- Work overtime as requested by management.
- Maintain and safeguard equipment, tools, and inventory.
- Organize and schedule jobs for timely completion.
Minimum Education:
- Completion of a two-year or more contractor apprenticeship in a related field with at least six months of classroom training in electrical theory and related disciplines.
- Four years of U.S. military service with technical ratings such as Electronic Technician, IC, Information System Technician, Radioman, or Data System Technician.
- An Associate's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or Information Technology.
Experience: 12+ years as an installer, including at least 3 years on Afloat C4
ISR installations with the U.S. Navy.
Physical Requirements
- Occupational Safety Haz-Mat certification.
- Shipyard Competent Person certification.
- Ability to climb, work aloft, and in confined spaces.
- Ability to lift/move objects up to 50 lbs safely.
- CPR certification.
- Primarily in Jacksonville, FL, with travel to other US shipyards and Navy ports.
- Pass a background check and possess a valid driver's license.
- Possibility of using a company vehicle; an acceptable driving record required.
Applicants must undergo a security investigation for eligibility for a Secret clearance.
Travel Locations- Lift, carry, and move objects up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Relocate a 12-foot ladder independently.
- Work at heights up to 60 feet, including scaffolds and ladders.
- Perform physical activities such as walking, climbing, and reaching.
- Good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, and hearing.
- Recognize problems and apply general rules to solve them.
- Detail-oriented with close-range vision.
