Ubicloud is an open source alternative to AWS. Our cloud services include elastic compute, block storage, CI/CD (Git Hub Actions), K8s, managed Postgres, and AI inference. Today, we serve 500+ customers on our managed cloud.

We’re now hiring engineers to help us with our Postgres, Git Hub Actions, and AI inference products.

With our product(s), we make informed bets on market fundamentals. We then use customer feedback to keep making those products better.

To do this well, we enable our team. We’re deliberate about communicating structures. We ensure that people closest to problems have the agency to solve them and take accountability for outcomes. You can take a look at our codebase on Git Hub.

The tech world changes constantly. New hardware, new customer needs, new competitive dynamics. We expect everyone here to grow alongside it. Growth mindset (vs fixed mindset) isn't something we talk about in offsites and forget. We’re energized by learning new things and we aspire to get a little bit better each day.

At Ubicloud, we’re also applying AI tools / techniques more and more during our software development processes. We’d like to share more when we chat in person.

• We’re hiring for mid-stage software engineers. You’d hold the equivalent of a Computer Science degree and 2 to 8 years of relevant experience.
• We’re looking for people who impress us. If you’ve built something impressive before, we’d like to hear more about it.
• We hire for motivated and talented developers. We also hire for the slope and not the y-intercept.
• If you have credible experience in having built managed Postgres or distributed inference architectures, that’s a plus. On the inference side, we’re looking into Deep Seek and Kimi’s open source architectures.
• We’re primarily hiring for San Francisco, the Netherlands, and Turkey. When applying, please indicate the location you’re applying for.

We’ll apply a selective screening process on applications. At this stage, we’re primarily going to look for signals that worked well for us in the past & what we outlined in the “What we are looking for” section.

We’ll then reach out to schedule an initial phone interview. If that goes well, we’ll schedule five interviews (in one day) that evaluate coding proficiency, design skills, and team-fit. Those interviews may be in-person depending on the location.

We’re also contemplating having an AI-assisted project session. If we include this session outside of the regular interview process, we’ll make sure that it comes at the end, takes less than a day, and that you’re generously compensated for your time. You’re also welcome to indicate a preference or dispreference for attending this session.

Ubicloud provides these services on bare metal providers, such as Hetzner, Leaseweb, or AWS Bare Metal. You can self-host our software or use our managed service to reduce your cloud costs by 3-10x.
