About Micro Lumix

Micro Lumix is an innovative healthcare technology company developing the next generation of infrastructure-integrated contamination-control technologies for healthcare facilities and public environments.

We’re building a groundbreaking spatial intelligence platform that combines commercially available sensing technologies with advanced AI to understand human movement and interactions within complex indoor environments.

We’re seeking an exceptional, hands‑on Principal Engineer to lead the architecture and development of this technology.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to build an entirely new technology platform from the ground up, working directly with company leadership and an experienced engineering team.

Our immediate objective is to develop a working, real-time, multi-sensor, multi-person tracking system using commercially available radar, LiDAR, and complementary sensing technologies. We are not developing proprietary sensor hardware.
We’re developing the intelligence that makes multiple independent sensing technologies work together.

The successful candidate will take technical ownership of the architecture, algorithms, integration, and development of a scalable platform designed for real‑world deployment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and develop real-time, multi-sensor, multi-person tracking systems.
  • Integrate commercially available mmWave radar, LiDAR, and complementary spatial sensing technologies.
  • Develop advanced sensor-fusion, data-association, and multi-target tracking algorithms.
  • Maintain persistent tracking identities across multiple independently positioned sensors, including during occlusions, crowded conditions, and sensor transitions.
  • Implement probabilistic tracking, confidence estimation, and identity-recovery techniques.
  • Develop spatial intelligence and human activity recognition capabilities.
  • Design efficient, distributed processing architectures using edge computing and AI.
  • Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to develop, test, and deploy working systems.
  • Leverage modern AI development tools to accelerate software engineering and prototyping.
  • Lead technical development from initial proof of concept through commercial deployment.
Required Qualifications

Candidates must have demonstrated hands‑on experience developing multi-sensor, multi-target tracking systems using physical sensing hardware.

Additional requirements:

  • Strong understanding of multi-target tracking, sensor fusion, state estimation, and data association.
  • Experience maintaining tracking continuity across multiple sensors.
  • Expertise in probabilistic tracking algorithms, including Kalman filtering, JPDA, MHT, or comparable approaches.
  • Experience with radar, LiDAR, point-cloud processing, or other advanced spatial sensing technologies.
  • Advanced C++ and/or Python development experience.
  • Experience designing and implementing real-time software systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently architect and deliver functioning technology.
Preferred Experience
  • Robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, defense, or advanced sensing.
  • Radar-based human or object tracking.
  • Multi-person tracking and re-identification.
  • Distributed sensor networks and edge computing.
  • ROS/ROS2, PyTorch, and machine learning frameworks.
  • Human activity recognition and privacy-preserving sensing.
  • Commercial product development and deployment.
What Makes This Opportunity Different

This is not a research-only position or a traditional engineering management role.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving difficult technical problems, writing code, integrating physical systems, and turning ambitious ideas into working technology.

The successful candidate will have significant technical autonomy, direct access to company leadership, and the opportunity to establish the foundation of a new infrastructure technology platform.

We have an aggressive development roadmap and intend to demonstrate meaningful working capabilities within the first 90 days.

Location & Employment Requirements

This position requires full-time, 100% onsite employment at Micro Lumix headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida.

Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available.

Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

  • Micro Lumix offers competitive compensation commensurate with experience, performance incentives, and the opportunity to lead development of a potentially transformative technology platform.
