Under the supervision of the Transportation Superintendent, the Dispatcher Supervisor is responsible for dispatching all daily run assignments, addressing missed trips and service interruptions, and monitoring all Bus Operator activities through Computer-Aided Dispatch and Automated Vehicle Locator (AVL) software.

• Run bus and operator's assignments, filling all daily run assignments with operators and the appropriate size/model bus.
• Dispatch buses, service and supervisory vehicles in accordance with Authority procedures.
• Communicate with operators via two-way radio system and Avaya phone system.
• Prepare and maintain the daily work board and assign open or extra work in accordance with labor agreement rules.
• Validate daily work and complete related transportation forms and reports in an accurate and timely fashion.
• Monitor vehicle movements via CAD/AVL software.
• Answer telephones and respond to inquiries from Bus Operators and the public. Provide bus route, detours and schedule information as needed.
• Maintain, file or pull from files work orders, schedules, material and documents according to number, name, subject, alphabetical or other sorting method. Maintain vertical, index, folder and computerized file records.
• Operate fax machines, radio communications equipment, printers, computer and related equipment.
• Conform with and abide by all JTA regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
• Perform duties in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures contained in the Dispatcher’s Labor Agreement.
• Conform with all safety rules and wear/use all appropriate safety equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
• One (1) year experience in clerical work, including one (1) year of experience in the operation of a radio communications system and telephone.

• Three (3) years of experience as CDL bus operator.
• Knowledgeable of Duval County and surrounding counties.

• Knowledge of mass transit operations and procedures.

• Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, with employees of all levels within an organization.
• Ability to operate Computer-Aided Dispatch and Automated Vehicle Locator software.
• Ability to speak clearly and to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to operate a two-way radio, both handheld and console.
• Ability to learn all bus routes.
• Ability to operate a calculator, fax machine, copier and related office equipment.
• Ability to relay instructions to operators via radio in an accurate and concise manner.
• Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and promptly.
• Ability to work effectively with employees and the public.
• Ability to multitask and work in high pressure situations.

The Dispatcher Supervisor is an in-office position requiring collaboration with colleagues and interaction with customers. The incumbent may be required to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to respond to emergencies or to meet operational needs. Physical demands may include: keyboarding/typing/using a computer mouse, repetitive motion, and sitting for prolonged periods.
