Position Overview
POSITION TITLE: Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois Security Guard/Data Clerk
DEPARTMENT: Satellite Site
REPORTS TO: Site Director
FLSA: Non-Exempt
PRIMARY FUNCTION: In cooperation with Site Director, oversee and monitor the daily atmosphere and physical premises of the satellite site. Provide assistance and supervision to program participants, including ensuring each child is properly signed in and out daily and that participants are in correct locations at all times.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Assist any BGCCIL staff member with students who are disruptive and having behavior issues.
- Monitor students who have been given disciplinary action, removed from a classroom, or are receiving discipline for inappropriate behavior.
- Ensure that all participants are signed in and out each day of the program by accurate reporting within the My Club Hub system and confirming that the written documentation is accurate.
- Implement guidance and discipline policies relating to Club Participants. Communicate and maintain standards of conduct for program participants. Assist with maintenance of records relating to participant discipline situations and participant development issues.
- Recommend new offerings in specific program areas and create and implement necessary plans to initiate new program offerings. Identify prospective community resources/volunteers that could assist with the program.
- Assist in the implementation of special events and activities that give program participants the opportunity to exhibit their skills.
- Provide special guidance and development of participants assigned through the BGCCIL project and other assigned projects.
- Develop and implement opportunities for participant involvement in outside educational, recreational and leadership programs and activities relating to program areas. Plan, implement and lead field trips that complement program activities, if deemed necessary.
- Represent the organization and interpret its policies, objectives, standards and programs to project participants, parents, community organizations and the public. Promote and stimulate the project participants’ knowledge of and interest in BGCCIL programs and activities.
- Help maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the facility through encouraging participant involvement in keeping program areas clean and putting away supplies after use.
- Assist with activities in other program areas as assigned.
- Assist parents in finding the location of their child at pick up.
- Assist the staff with transitioning the children between activities.
- Work with the staff to ensure that children who need to be bussed home are placed on the correct bus and that those who remain have transportation.
- Help Site Director and other staff with additional duties as assigned.
- Assist in tracking daily attendance and the whereabouts of the participants.
- Help Site Director and other staff diffuse escalating situations between participants or parents.
Internal: Maintains contact with Site management staff to interpret and explain the organization’s mission, program objectives, and standards; discusses issues and provides/receives information. Maintains contact with the Site Director and Director of Satellite Operations to ensure consistency of policies.
External: Maintains positive relationships with school district personnel, participant parents, and the public to assist in resolving problems and publicize the project.
Skills / Knowledge Required- Knowledge of youth development; ability to motivate and provide guidance to youth through establishing positive relationships with participants.
- Required availability Monday through Thursday, program hours starting as early as 1:30 pm, extending until as late as 6:30 pm, with prep and planning time as requested.
- Ability to relate to the general public, parents and BGCCIL participants in a friendly, positive, and professional manner.
- Ability to convey BGCCIL policies and procedures to participants and implement appropriate guidance and discipline policies.
