Optometrist – Camp Lejeune, North Carolina Overview

Join the healthcare team at Camp Lejeune as an Optometrist
, providing high-quality vision and eye care services to active-duty service members, their families, and other eligible beneficiaries. In this role, you will deliver both routine and acute eye care
, ensuring early detection and effective management of visual disorders, ocular diseases, and systemic conditions that affect vision health.

You’ll use your clinical expertise to evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of eye-related conditions while collaborating with other healthcare professionals to promote readiness, wellness, and prevention.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to evaluate visual acuity, ocular health, and systemic implications affecting vision.
  • Diagnose and manage diseases, injuries, and disorders of the eye, visual system, and associated structures.
  • Provide preventive and therapeutic eye care
    , including prescribing corrective lenses, contact lenses, and ocular medications.
  • Perform pre- and post-operative evaluations for refractive and other ophthalmologic procedures.
  • Conduct color vision, contrast sensitivity, and binocular vision assessments
    .
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools such as fundus photography, corneal topography, Pentacam scans, autorefraction, and visual field testing
    .
  • Remove superficial ocular foreign bodies and perform epilation when clinically indicated.
  • Provide patient education on eye health, safety, and vision conservation, promoting preventive practices and adherence to treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other specialists for co-management or referral of complex ocular and systemic conditions.
  • Participate in clinical training, wellness initiatives, and vision research activities as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
  • Degree:
    Doctor of Optometry (OD).
  • Education:

    Graduate of an optometry program accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE).
  • Licensure:
    Current, active, and unrestricted optometry license in any U.S. state or territory.
Schedule
  • Full-time, Monday–Friday
  • 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
