Job Responsibilities:
  • Possess a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from a four-year institution recognized by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), and possess a current mechanical engineering professional engineer (PE) license combined with 5 years' experience, is required.
  • Or possess a current mechanical engineering professional engineer (PE) license combined with 10 years' minimum experience in mechanical engineering field, is required, preferable in the federal sector.
  • 10 years of experience in design of commercial HVAC systems including controls sequences, equipment, and piping.
  • 10 years of experience in startup, acceptance testing and performance field verification of commercial HVAC systems equipment and associated controls systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of complex mechanical engineering concepts, principles and practices required in order to investigate and provide assistance to field offices on the entire range of mechanical engineering construction activities for facilities construction.
  • Knowledge in the use of test equipment and instrumentation required for balance of air flow, water flow, pump and fan performance, heat exchange equipment performance and other HVAC system measurements.
  • Knowledge of gas and fluid flow balancing techniques as associated with HVAC systems.
  • Experience in using manometers, venturis, thermal imaging devices, air and water meters in balancing systems.
  • In-depth understanding of HVAC and industrial control system operation, sequencing techniques and system optimization.
  • Advanced knowledge of design principles, government criteria and industry codes and standards.
