Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

Walgreens is hiring a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice to provide a patient‑focused pharmacy experience. Positions in the Walgreens Pharmacy Technician Training Program will guide you toward becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician.

$16.50/hr – $20.00/hr

• Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy and perform other Pharmacy Department duties according to company policies and procedures.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist and coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers.
• Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience: greet customers, resolve issues, answer questions, and develop strong relationships with key customers.
• Assist in pharmacy operations: verify prescriptions, count and pour medications, check for interactions, schedule and maintain workflow, report errors, and adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policy.
• Handle cash register duties, collect and process cash, assist customers to OTC aisle, and process manual claims for third‑party programs.
• Support inventory management: ordering, unpacking, checking, storing shipments, filing warehouse overages and shortages.
• Assist pharmacist in clinical services, including blood/urine sample collection and lab coordination.
• Maintain relationships with the local medical community through outreach and detailing.
• Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, neat, and compliant with company policies.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program, or achieve certification as a condition of promotion.
• Attend manager‑requested training and acquire continuing education credits to maintain knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy updates.

• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• Approximately six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
• Computer literacy.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
