SummaryThe Manager in Training assists the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. They are knowledgeable in each product area of the store, promote sales and promotions, uphold company policies, and create a unique customer experience. In the Manager’s absence, they assume supervisory control and are trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett.
- Consult with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to establish action plans for sales, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility of the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across departments.
- Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
- Direct staff to ensure department responsibilities and standards are completed.
- Inform the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager about inventory movements and customer trends.
- Maintain quality customer service.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed.
- Deliver extraordinary customer service as outlined in the customer service manual, including assisting customers on arrival and during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett.
- Practice and uphold all Hibbett City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and company memos.
- Protect company assets and financial information through internal controls and reporting potential fraud risks.
- Supervise employees during the absence of the Store Manager, following company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems.
- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably with footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1-3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and meet overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks independently.
- Strong attention to detail and multitasking ability.
- Team player who is passionate about outstanding customer service and merchandise sales.
