The Master HVAC Technician installs, modifies, and repairs refrigeration systems such as hermetic, semi-hermetic, screw, scroll, and centrifugal units up to 1100 tons; air conditioning; VAV and ventilation; VRF systems; CRAC units; geo-thermal; reversible chillers; air and water-cooled chillers; process coolers; ice machines; evaporative cooling; air compressing, and related control systems, including pneumatic, DDC, and building control systems equipment. This person performs advanced installation tasks involving assembly, testing, calibrating, and adjusting of temperature control and environmental control systems such as air conditioning plants, air environmental control systems, air distribution systems, and complex dual equipment cooling installations, specialized refrigerated warehouses, and dehumidification systems.
Additionally, the Master HVAC Technician installs new or repaired components and performs complex modifications of systems and components in accordance with electrical publications and directives, maintaining and repairing specialized equipment such as DOAS, MAU, and Pool Pak systems. This mechanic may perform complex repairs on system components such as compressors, condensers, heat pumps, fluid and refrigerant gas lines, valves, meters, gauges, thermostats, pumps, mechanical linkages, electrical components, switching and controlling devices including pneumatic controls, variable speed drives, digital controlled devices, hydronic heating, cooling, and economizer systems.
Salary
$58.40/hr plus $14.75 fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401k!

Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair various refrigerant systems including Variable Refrigerant Flow Systems, Chillers, Reversible Chillers, CRAC Units
- Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape, using equipment and tools; join tubing or pipes to refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings, or unions, and solder joints, using torch, forming complete circuits for refrigerant, install various refrigerant valves in circuits
- Test joints and connections in refrigerant piping for leaks using leak detector; verify leak-free using vacuum pump and vacuum hold test
- Test and verify proper operation of components, connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and ventilation fans
- Replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring
- Adjust refrigerant levels to achieve proper subcooling and superheat
- Monitor pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls accordingly
- Wrap pipes in insulation batting and secure with cement or wire bands
- Install, repair, and service air conditioners up to 1100 tons capacity in various facilities
- Prepare work orders and cost estimates
- Assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of commercial and industrial HVAC equipment
- Ability to perform technical tasks and upgrade skills as needed
- Knowledge of indoor air monitoring, safety standards, and refrigerant handling
- Knowledge of safety protocols and proper use of tools and equipment
- Adaptability and flexibility in work situations
- Workplace safety practices including PPE usage
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent with technical training and experience
- 10+ years of advanced experience in commercial/industrial HVAC maintenance, repair, installation, and operation
- Experience with system inspection, disassembly, assembly, and repair, including control systems calibration and troubleshooting
- EPA Universal Refrigeration License
- Valid driver’s license or willingness to obtain one
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
