Carpenters on the Camp Lejeune team come from areas of eastern NC including Jacksonville, Richlands, Swansboro and Morehead City. Primary responsibilities of the Carpenter are to design, build, remodel, retrofit, maintain and repair. The Carpenter works in various types of facilities and structures, interior to exterior, floor to ceiling, vinyl siding to soffits and roofs and everything in between such as cabinets, tables, benches, doors and door closures.
Materials include wood, drywall, plaster, concrete, brick, ceramic tile and paint. The ideal EMI Carpenter is an experienced handyman who does it all while following all health and safety standards.
$28.23/hr plus $14.75/hr fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401(k)!
Key Responsibilities- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Assess tasks and determine solutions including cost, time and materials
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments
- Respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Mechanically inclined with the mindset of making alterations and repairs
- Basic understanding of facia and trim with fabrication skills
- Work well in a team to complete tasks
- Adaptable and flexible in work situations
- Prioritize tasks to ensure completion in a timely manner
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in the carpentry trades
- Valid driver's license compliant with REAL or willing and able to obtain one
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Regular, dependable attendance
- Available evenings & weekends (overtime)
- U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted
- Use of hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and walking
- Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping
- Climbing ladders and entering confined spaces
- Lifting and adjusting heavy objects, contact with sharp, hot and/or very cold supplies and equipment
- Work both indoors and outdoors in various temperatures (some extreme) and weather conditions
