• Lead end-to-end collection development from concept through production, establishing design direction aligned with brand positioning and market trends
• Develop and curate sophisticated color palettes and fabric ranges that balance aesthetic innovation with material and production viability
• Create detailed design specifications, technical drawings, mood boards, and visual presentations for stakeholder and production teams
• Collaborate with master weavers and artisans, translating artistic intent into production while respecting traditional techniques
• Conduct market research, analyze luxury textile trends, and identify emerging opportunities in global home furnishings
• Communicate collection narratives and brand stories through written, visual, and verbal presentations
• Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for raw materials including yarns, fibers, natural dyes, and textile components
• Develop and maintain relationships with weaving mills, dyers, and artisan communities, ensuring alignment with quality and brand standards
• Conduct regular supplier audits, quality inspections, and performance reviews to maintain consistent excellence
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and lead times while balancing cost efficiency with quality imperatives
• Source sustainable and ethically produced materials that align with brand values and emerging market preferences
• Manage material inventory, forecasting, and supply chain logistics to ensure timely availability for collection launches
• Troubleshoot supply chain challenges and identify alternative sources or solutions when needed
Required Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in Design, Fine Arts, Textile Design, Fashion, Materials Science, or related field
• 5- 8 years of combined experience in textile/rug design and material sourcing or procurement
• Demonstrated expertise in colour theory, palette development, and application to textiles and spatial design
• Deep understanding of fabric construction, yarn properties, weaving techniques, dyeing methods, and fibre sourcing
• Proven supplier management experience with demonstrated success in vendor relationship building and negotiation
• Strong portfolio showcasing multiple completed collections with documentation of sourcing decisions and material specifications
• Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite, CAD) and procurement/supply chain tools
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to bridge creative and operational teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; comfort navigating cost, quality, and timeline trade-offs
• Fluent English communication; ability to work with diverse stakeholders across cultures
