About the job Seismic Acquisition QC Specialist
The Seismic Acquisition QC Specialist is responsible for providing technical oversight, quality control, and operational assurance for marine seismic acquisition projects. The role ensures that seismic data are acquired safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with contractual specifications, HSSE requirements, and regulatory obligations. The position also provides advisory support across survey planning, contractor management, and execution phases.
Key Responsibilities Seismic Acquisition & QC Oversight- Provide quality control (QC) oversight for marine seismic acquisition operations, including source, streamer, navigation, and recording systems.
- Ensure seismic acquisition meets contractual specifications, survey parameters, and industry best practices.
- Monitor data quality and operational performance during acquisition, identifying and addressing issues in coordination with contractors.
- Review and validate navigation data, positioning accuracy, and acquisition reports prior to acceptance.
- Support survey planning, preparation, and execution 3D marine seismic programs.
- Contribute to survey design reviews, risk assessments, and acquisition strategies to optimize data quality and operational efficiency.
- Support tendering structuration, preparation and follow up, along with contractor evaluation and scope‑of‑work development as required.
- Coordinate with Company representatives, contractors, and stakeholders during survey execution.
- Act as a QC and HSSE focal point during seismic acquisition activities.
- Ensure implementation of HSSE plans and compliance with company policies.
- Participate in risk assessments, incident reviews, and HSSE reporting.
- Support engagement with government authorities and local stakeholders where required.
- Liaise with seismic contractors, vessel crews, and onboard client representatives to ensure clear communication and alignment.
- Support coordination between company teams, contractors, regulators, and local communities to enable safe and efficient survey operations.
- Assist in close‑out activities, including final reporting, permitting compliance, and documentation.
- Extensive experience in marine seismic acquisition, QC, and survey management roles across 3D surveys.
- Strong background in navigation QC, seismic positioning systems, and acquisition data validation.
- Proven experience supporting seismic programs from planning through acquisition and close‑out phases.
- Demonstrated experience working as a client representative, QC specialist, or survey project advisor.
- Diploma or equivalent qualification in Project Management or a related discipline.
- Formal training in Workplace Health and Safety and HSSE management.
- Additional qualifications in crisis management, risk assessment, or marine operations are desirable.
- Strong understanding of marine seismic acquisition systems and workflows.
- Ability to identify acquisition risks and data quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Clear, effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Strong planning, coordination, and problem‑solving skills.
- Commitment to safe and compliant and high‑quality seismic operations.
- The role interfaces closely with Exploration Department, Operations, HSSE, Supply Chain, and external seismic contractors.
- Acts as a technical and operational advisor to the Geophysical Team on seismic acquisition matters.
