Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Geophysicist to manage and deliver geophysical survey projects from planning through to final reporting. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in geophysics, with hands‑on experience in offshore or marine survey projects. This role requires someone who can manage client expectations, coordinate field operations, supervise data acquisition and processing workflows, review technical deliverables, and ensure that projects are completed safely, accurately, on time, and within budget.

This is both a technical and project management role. The candidate must be able to understand the science and data behind geophysical surveys, while also managing people, schedules, budgets, equipment, reporting, and client communication.

Key Responsibilities Project Management
  • Manage geophysical survey projects from award stage through mobilisation, execution, processing, interpretation, reporting, and close‑out.
  • Review project scope, client requirements, contract documents, technical specifications, and deliverables.
  • Prepare project execution plans, schedules, resource plans, equipment plans, and reporting timelines.
  • Coordinate with clients, vessel teams, offshore crew, surveyors, data processors, Geophysicists, subcontractors, and internal management.
  • Monitor project progress, budget, risks, issues, and variations.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with client requirements.
Technical Geophysics
  • Provide technical oversight for geophysical survey activities, including data acquisition, quality control, processing, interpretation, and reporting.
  • Review and interpret geophysical data including side scan sonar, multibeam echosounder, sub‑bottom profiler, magnetometer, shallow seismic, and other relevant datasets.
  • Ensure that survey data meets project specifications, industry standards, and client expectations.
  • Identify seabed features, sub‑seabed conditions, anomalies, hazards, infrastructure, debris, boulders, potential UXO targets, cables, pipelines, and geological features where applicable.
  • Review technical reports, charts, drawings, data deliverables, and client submissions before issue.
  • Support technical clarifications with clients and advise on geophysical methodology and deliverables.
Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients during project execution.
  • Attend client meetings, project kick‑offs, progress reviews, technical discussions, and close‑out meetings.
  • Provide clear technical and project updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage client expectations and ensure that any scope changes, delays, technical issues, or commercial impacts are communicated clearly.
  • Support business development and tender teams with technical input when required.
Offshore / Field Operations Support
  • Support planning for mobilisation, equipment selection, vessel readiness, personnel requirements, and offshore execution.
  • Liaise with offshore teams to ensure survey procedures, line plans, equipment configuration, and data acquisition standards are properly followed.
  • Provide remote or on‑site technical support during survey operations where required.
  • Ensure proper quality control of field data and timely communication of any data quality issues.
  • Coordinate demobilisation, data handover, and post‑survey deliverables.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with company procedures, client requirements, HSE standards, and industry best practice.
  • Support risk assessments, method statements, project procedures, and quality control documentation.
  • Ensure technical deliverables are accurate, traceable, and properly reviewed before submission.
  • Maintain organised project records, correspondence, data logs, reports, and close‑out documentation.
Required Experience
  • Proven experience as a Geophysicist, Senior Geophysicist, Lead Geophysicist, Project Geophysicist, or Geophysical Project Manager.
  • Strong experience in offshore or marine geophysical survey projects.
