Lead Mechanical Engineer is a full‑time, on‑site role responsible for leading mechanical engineering design activities, including developing equipment specifications, mechanical data sheets, rotating and static equipment selection, and defining mechanical performance requirements for projects in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Mining, and Power Plants. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will oversee equipment integrity assessments, vendor evaluation processes, and mechanical studies to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
Day‑to‑day tasks include coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, reviewing vendor documents, preparing technical reports, and supporting project management with estimates and schedules.
The role also involves mentoring junior engineers, participating in HAZOP and other safety reviews, and providing technical support during construction, commissioning, and start‑up.
QualificationsBachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering/related engineering discipline, or a relevant science field.
Minimum 12 years of engineering experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Mining, or Power Plants, with prior leadership or lead engineer responsibilities preferred.
Strong Mechanical Engineering competency, encompassing equipment specifications, rotating and static equipment design, material selection, and working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, API, NFPA) — applied within EPC or industrial project environments.
Proficiency in mechanical analysis software (e.g., PVElite, COMPRESS, or equivalent) and standard engineering tools within the technical domain.
Solid understanding of mechanical integrity principles, including fitness‑for‑service assessments, corrosion allowances, and pressure relief system design.
Knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, with hands‑on experience in HAZOP, risk assessments, and design for safe operation.
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret data, perform engineering calculations, and develop practical technical solutions.
Effective communication and coordination skills, with the ability to guide teams, collaborate across disciplines, and engage with clients and stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet project deadlines, and adapt to evolving requirements in a dynamic, on‑site engineering environment.
