Lead Commissioning Engineer is a full-time, on-site role, responsible for leading commissioning and start-up activities, including developing commissioning procedures, pre-commissioning checklists, system completion plans, and defining readiness criteria. Lead Commissioning Engineer will oversee pre-commissioning execution, system turnover processes, and performance testing to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards and client specifications. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams, reviewing vendor documents, preparing technical reports, and supporting project management with estimates and schedules.
The role also involves mentoring junior commissioning engineers, participating in HAZOP and other safety reviews, and providing technical support during construction, commissioning, and start-up.
Bachelor’s degree (S1) in Engineering or a related science field with a minimum of 9 years of experience in commissioning and start-up within the construction/fabrication industry; a Diploma (D3) with more years of relevant experience will be considered.
At least 5 years of experience as Lead/Engineer Commissioning in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and/or energy sectors, with a demonstrated track record of successfully delivering commissioning and start-up scopes.
Proficient in leading and coordinating teams across pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities, including system turnover, loop checking, and performance testing.
Strong Commissioning Engineering competency, encompassing commissioning plan development, procedure writing, punch list management, and working knowledge of applicable codes and standards — applied within EPC or industrial project environments.
Proficiency in commissioning management software (e.g., ICAPS, Completion Management Systems, or equivalent) and standard engineering tools within the technical domain.
Solid understanding of process and mechanical systems, including the ability to interpret P&IDs, equipment data sheets, and operational philosophies to support safe and effective start-up.
Knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, with hands‑on experience in HAZOP, risk assessments, and design for safe operation.
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret data, troubleshoot commissioning issues, and develop practical technical solutions under time‑sensitive field conditions.
Effective communication and coordination skills, with the ability to guide teams, collaborate across disciplines, and engage with clients and stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet project deadlines, and adapt to evolving requirements in a dynamic, on‑site engineering environment.
