Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst
About the role

As a BI Analyst, you will transform raw data into meaningful insights that guide strategic and operational decisions. You will own core business metrics, build scalable BI assets, and collaborate with stakeholders across retail operations, data engineering, and leadership to deliver trusted, actionable insights.

This role focuses on leveraging a modern Google Cloud data platform (Big Query, Dataform, Composer) and BI tools such as Tableau and Micro Strategy to create robust, scalable reporting solutions.

Partner & Scope: Collaborate with business teams to translate questions into clear analytical requirements, KPIs, and dashboards. Maintain and prioritize a roadmap of BI deliverables.

Data Modeling & Semantic Layer: Design and maintain curated data marts in Big Query; work with data engineers to create reusable data models and a consistent semantic layer for reporting.

Dashboards & Reporting: Build, iterate, and maintain interactive dashboards in Tableau and Micro Strategy, with a strong focus on usability, performance, and adoption.

Analysis & Insights: Conduct descriptive and diagnostic analyses (cohorts, trends, funnels) and provide concise, actionable recommendations to stakeholders.

Data Quality & Governance: Define and document KPIs, implement QA checks, and ensure proper lineage and access controls for data assets.

Platform Monitoring: Partner with data engineers to monitor data pipeline health and dashboard data freshness SLAs; set up alerts for anomalies or failures.

Enablement & Training: Document dashboards, create data dictionaries, and host training/office hours to empower self-service analytics across teams.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, automate manual workflows, and enhance data reliability.

Experience
: 2+ years in BI, analytics, or data roles, preferably in a retail or data-rich environment.

  • Advanced SQL skills; hands-on experience with Big Query or a similar cloud data warehouse (Snowflake/Redshift).
  • Proven experience building BI dashboards in Tableau, Micro Strategy, or other modern BI tools.
  • Solid understanding of dimensional modeling (star/snowflake), metric definitions, and performance tuning.

  Ability to synthesize and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Nice to Have:
  • Python/R for analysis, automation, or data validation.
  • Familiarity with dbt/Dataform, Fivetran (or similar ELT tools), and Git/CI for BI content version control.
  • Basic statistics and experimentation design (A/B testing).
