L3 Application Support Engineer

Role Level: Mid-Senior (Individual Contributor)
Contract: 12 months (extendable based on performance)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid in South Jakarta

This is a supporting engineering role — not a full software development position. You will be the advanced technical layer above L2 Support, focusing on troubleshooting, debugging, and supporting vendor systems for one of the bank's strongest and most critical squads:
Lending
. You'll work closely with backend engineering, infrastructure, and vendor teams to keep services stable, reliable, and performant.

Perform in-depth troubleshooting and debugging of backend services and system integrations.

Investigate and isolate root causes of production issues across distributed systems, using logs, APIs, and monitoring/observability tools.

Act as a technical liaison with vendors and third-party service providers, driving resolution of integration issues.

Support capacity, performance, and stability analysis of backend services — identifying bottlenecks and areas for optimization.

Collaborate with backend engineers and infrastructure teams on root cause analysis (RCA) and coordinate implementation of permanent fixes.

Review system architecture and design to understand where and why failures occur within complex, large-scale systems.

Provide clear, well-documented diagnostic findings to engineering teams to speed up resolution and reduce back-and-forth.

This role does not involve full-cycle software development (designing and building new features from scratch) like a Software Engineer role.

Your focus is on support, diagnosis, and system reliability — not new product development.

Education: A Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in backend support, production support, or technical operations — ideally within distributed systems, fintech, or banking environments.

Technical

Skills:

Strong understanding of backend/distributed systems concepts
, algorithms
, and data structures

Comfortable reading and debugging code (any modern backend language: Go, Java, Python, C++, Node.js, etc.).

Familiar with SQL databases (PostgreSQL/Oracle/MySQL) for data investigation and auditing.

Experience using observability/monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Datadog, New Relic, Grafana) to trace transaction flows.

Solid grasp of API structures
, HTTP response codes
, and networking principles for cross-system troubleshooting.

Strong analytical mindset — able to "read" system behavior and pinpoint where failures occur in a complex ecosystem.

Language:
Must be fluent in English (spoken and written) — mandatory
, as you'll collaborate with cross-functional and international stakeholders.

Soft Skills:

Excellent communication skills — able to translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable insights for business stakeholders.

Calm and effective under pressure, especially during system outages or high-traffic periods.

High attention to detail with a "zero tolerance for error" mindset, given the financial nature of the systems involved.
