Onboard Crew Member – Japanese N2 & English
About the role
PT Bahari Sakti Internasional is seeking a Crew Member Bilingual Japanese–English for International Maritime Operations to join our growing team. This is a full-time position based in West Jakarta, Jakarta, offering an exciting opportunity to work in the maritime and international shipping industry. As a Crew Member, you will play a vital role in supporting our international maritime operations, utilising your bilingual capabilities to facilitate communication and coordination across Japanese and English‑speaking teams and stakeholders.
Your fluency in both languages will be instrumental in ensuring seamless operational efficiency and cross‑cultural collaboration in our global maritime environment.
Facilitate communication between Japanese and English‑speaking crew members, management, and external partners, ensuring clear and accurate information exchange
Support maritime operations by translating technical documentation, operational manuals, and safety procedures as required
Assist in coordinating international shipping activities and managing multilingual correspondence with international clients and partner organisations
Contribute to maintaining safety standards and compliance with international maritime regulations across diverse crews
Support crew welfare and integration by assisting with cultural coordination and language interpretation during international voyages
Maintain detailed records of operational activities and assist in administrative tasks related to international maritime logistics
Participate in team briefings and training sessions, translating key information to ensure all crew members understand operational requirements
Collaborate with management to resolve any communication challenges or operational issues arising from language differences
What we're looking forFluent in English, both written and verbal, for communication with international clients and partners. Japanese language proficiency at JLPT N2 level or above. Candidates must be able to communicate professionally in Japanese, including business correspondence and meetings.
Knowledge of maritime terminology and international shipping operations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in multicultural environments
Experience in maritime operations, international logistics, or related fields is highly desirable
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail in documentation and record‑keeping
Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team whilst remaining responsive to management direction
Valid maritime certifications or relevant qualifications in shipping and logistics would be advantageous
Physical fitness and willingness to work in dynamic maritime environments
