Operational in Indonesia for more than 40 years, IOM Indonesia is working on a wide range of activities in partnership with the Government of Indonesia, civil society, private sector actors, migrants and communities.

IOM Indonesia is engaged in several thematic areas, including:
Counter-Trafficking (CT), Labour Migration and Social Inclusion (LMSI), Disasters, Climate and Resilience (DCR), Immigration and Border Governance (IBG), Refugee Care, Migration Health, Migration Governance and Resettlement and Voluntary Returns.

IOM’s Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) unit supports member states and the observer in strengthening the policy, legislation, operational systems, human resources and administrative and technical structures required to respond more effectively to diverse migration and border management challenges. IBG project and activities are in line with IOM’s commitment to facilitate orderly, safe and regular migration and mobility.

Under the direct supervision of the Immigration and Border Governance Senior Project Associate and the overall supervision of the Programme Manager, the Project Assistant primary role will involve facilitating the execution and delivery of border management programmes. In addition, the project assistant will be also responsible to provide clerical support to the programme and initiatives and the Immigration and Border Governance portfolio.

  • Provide general/clerical assistance and support the implementation and organization of IBG project activities, such as trainings, meetings, workshops and community engagement initiatives.
  • Assist in note-taking, meetings/workshops/activities reporting, and translating project and communication materials to/from Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Support administrative coordination for project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units or external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process, and follow-up on administrative actions.
  • Assist in updating project monitoring tools and related documentation, under the guidance of the Senior Project Associate.
  • Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics to support project reporting and external communication efforts.
  • Draft status reports, correspondence, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations, and other forms of documentation.
  • Under the guidance of the Senior Project Associate, provide support in drafting, designing visibility products and other publication materials.
