This is a hybrid position requiring 8 days per month in‑office at our office in WRI Indonesia, Jakarta. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application, and WRI does not sponsor visa work sponsorship for this position.

WRI Indonesia’s mission is to become the go‑to research organization that supports scientific evidence and informed decision‑making based on sound and robust scientific methodology. The organization’s research activity is a key part in achieving this goal and is organized around several program clusters.

• Transforming Supply Chains and Livelihoods:
  Drive the adoption of sustainable palm oil production practices at the national, regional, and global levels, collaborating with government bodies, smallholders, and businesses to ensure sustainable livelihoods and secure land tenure.
• Strengthening Forest and Peat Monitoring:
  Enhance monitoring capabilities for forests, peatlands, and landscapes, support forest management and conservation, combat illegal forest logging, and advocate for comprehensive reviews of palm oil business licenses.
• Innovating Financing for Nature‑Based Solutions:
  Commit to financing nature‑based solutions (NbS) projects, identify effective financing mechanisms and tools that ensure long‑term sustainability of NbS programs.
• Advancing Sustainable Food Systems:
  Accelerate the transformation of food and land use systems, support reform agendas for food systems, and align systems with global sustainable development, climate, and biodiversity goals.

• Advance transformative solutions for climate change mitigation and adaptation, assisting the Indonesian government to exceed climate commitments and transition to low‑carbon development.

• Accelerate the transition to a clean energy future through innovative solutions in clean energy governance and transparent market mechanisms that prioritize inclusivity and fairness.

• Provide technical assistance to policymakers and urban planners, empowering them to strengthen the resilience of urban residents against climate change impacts and reduce road fatalities.

• Support the Indonesian government in reducing marine plastic debris and mainstream blue carbon in Indonesia’s New Ocean Economy.

As the bedrock of the organization, the Research, Data, and Innovation unit will:

• Support programmatic research activities by advising on research methods, strategies, and knowledge‑product development.
• Position WRI Indonesia as a nurturing institution for emerging talent.
• Generate and integrate data from program activities to make data accessible for decision‑making.
• Strengthen WRI Indonesia’s profile as an independent national research institution and learning center on sustainable development.

The Research and Data Integrity Lead reports directly to the Research and Data Integrity Manager and works closely with project managers/leads to connect problem definition, research design, evidence building, and country and program strategies.

• Collaborate with the RDI manager to ensure all WRI Indonesia‑branded knowledge products meet WRI’s Standards of Excellence.
• Oversee the peer and user review process for WRI Indonesia‑branded publications.
• Review publications, applying expert judgment to ensure alignment with WRI’s research standards.
• Provide constructive feedback on research design, methods, writing, evidence generation, and recommendations for policymakers, businesses, and development organizations.
• Assist research staff in securing objective, external reviews of draft work.
• Ensure compliance with WRI’s Human Subject Protection (HSP) and safeguarding protocols.

• Guide program staff on producing high‑quality research work, including design, interpretation, analysis, and writing.
