As a Junior Software Engineer at Vandil, you'll contribute to building the infrastructure that powers our AI-native law firm. From our client portal to the Vandil Intelligence Platform — the system that enables our AI agents to handle 80%+ of legal work — you'll help design and ship technology that makes a small team operate like one many times its size.

This role is ideal for someone early in their career who's eager to learn fast and make a real impact. You'll work across the full stack, take on meaningful tasks with increasing ownership, and collaborate closely with our legal and engineering teams to build products that genuinely change how legal services are delivered.

This is a part-time hybrid role based in Jakarta. You'll be expected to work from our Jakarta office part of the week, with flexibility to work remotely on other days. We move fast and trust our team to do their best work — but we value strong async communication and a bias toward shipping.

You might start the morning reviewing a pull request from a teammate, then pick up a feature ticket for the client portal — say, helping build a real-time regulatory alert component that surfaces relevant changes to a client's compliance posture. After lunch, you're pairing with a senior engineer or one of our lawyers to understand how a new AI agent workflow should behave, translating legal logic into clean, reliable code.

Later in the afternoon, you're investigating a bug in our document generation pipeline, and by end of day you're pushing a fix. No two days look the same, but every day you're learning and building something that matters.

You have up to 2 years of professional or project-based software engineering experience — whether through internships, freelance work, open-source contributions, or university projects. You're comfortable working across the full stack and excited to develop stronger opinions about architecture over time.

Our stack is built on Angular and Firebase, so familiarity with either is a plus. That said, we care more about engineering fundamentals and your ability to learn fast than checking every box.

You communicate clearly, both in code and in conversation. You're the kind of engineer who asks "why are we building this?" before "how should we build this?" You're energised by ambiguity and see early-stage chaos as an opportunity, not a blocker.
