RECTOR

announces a competition for the position of Assistant in the group of research and teaching staff at the Department of Radiochemistry and Environmental Chemistry at the Institute of Chemical Sciences, Faculty of Chemistry, UMCS.

Eligible candidates must meet the requirements specified in the Act Law on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (consolidated text, Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended) and in the UMCS Statute of May 29, 2019, as amended.

I. QUALIFICATION CRITERIA OF THE COMPETITION:
  • possession of a master's degree in chemical sciences;
  • possession of outstanding scientific achievements, documented by publications in renowned scientific journals (not less than 5 papers with IF>8);
  • predispositions for research and teaching work, confirmed by the opinion of an independent research and teaching employee;
  • scientific achievements in the field of ecotoxicology and environmental chemistry, environmental engineering, nanotechnology, confirmed by scientific publications and completed trainings;
  • experience in laboratory work, particularly in operating the Flow Field Fractionation system, confirmed by an appropriate certificate, as well as experience in working with gas/liquid chromatography, a carbon analyzer, and the ICP‑OES system;
  • skills in the functionalization of carbon adsorbents and obtaining nano‑biochar and conducting experiments involving ecotoxicological analyses;
  • confirmed experience in applying for external funding;
  • knowledge of the English language;
  • confirmed foreign internship at a foreign institution;
  • motivation to conduct scientific research and ability to work in a team.
II. THE APPLICATION FOR THE COMPETITION SHOULD INCLUDE:
  • an application requesting employment addressed to the Rector of UMCS;
  • a copy or certified copy of the master's diploma;
  • a personal questionnaire and curriculum vitae;
  • a list of scientific publications;
  • a list of scientific, teaching and organizational achievements;
  • references, opinion on research and teaching aptitude of the candidate;
  • a declaration that UMCS will be the primary place of employment;
  • a declaration of compliance with the requirements specified in the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571 with amendments);
  • a candidate's declaration that they agree to the processing of personal data in accordance with Article 6 Paragraph 1 Letter a) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation.
III.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

- employment based on a contract of employment from February 1, 2026, to September 30, 2026, on a full-time
basis, in the primary place of employment
