Job Description Summary
Avio Aero, as part of the GE Aviation Business, is the leading company in the aeronautic business sector for the design, manufacturing and maintenance of components and systems for civil and military aero engines. We offer an opportunity for development within our Design Engineering Center team located in the Bielsko-Biała plant.
Lead Engineer Mechanical Analysis & Simulations will perform design activities within the 3rd Parties Module and Components NPI, Mechanical Transmissions Design organization, focusing on aircraft and helicopters' gearbox rotating and static structures. In this position you will follow the entire New Product Introduction process from Concept Design to Detailed Definition, Validation/Certification/Testing and Production Support.
Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities
- Perform finite element analyses (FEM) to support mechanical design development and validation of aircraft engine components, including rotating and static structures
- Build, modify and maintain structural FEM models for static, modal, fatigue and damage tolerance analyses under defined load cases
- Apply established analysis methods, standards and best practices to ensure accuracy and consistency of results
- Interpret analysis results, identify critical stress and deformation areas, and propose technically sound recommendations
- Prepare clear and well-structured analysis documentation and reports supporting design reviews and certification activities
- Collaborate with design, materials, manufacturing and testing teams to resolve structural issues
- Participate in technical reviews as a contributor, presenting FEM results and assumptions
- Support certification and compliance activities by providing analysis data and explanations to senior engineers
- Coordinate FEM-related tasks with external partners under guidance of senior analysts or technical leads
- Ensure proper documentation, traceability and data management of FEM models and results
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mechanics or related field
- Experience in structural FEM analysis in aerospace, turbo machinery or comparable high-reliability industries
- Good understanding of structural mechanics, strength of materials and fatigue fundamentals
- Hands‑on experience with commercial FEM tools (e.g. ANSYS, Patran, Abaqus, Hyper Works – Hyper Mesh / Hyper View, or equivalent)
- Ability to independently create meshes, define boundary conditions and evaluate analysis results
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Structured, analytical mindset with strong attention to detail
