Job DescriptionAre you passionate about cutting edge technology? Join us as a Database Engineer driving the world of databases at scale! Join our CTG Architecture & Engineering team. Our team is responsible for building high-load database infrastructure that powers Akamai business‑critical applications. We focus on scalability, performance, reliability, and automation to ensure our database supports company’s rapid growth. We work at the intersection of databases, distributed systems and Dev Ops practices.
Responsibilities- Architecting & evolving MySQL topologies
- Performing research, test, and assist with deployment of database performance and reliability improvements
- Leading query tuning and index strategy
- Implementing observability and automation for our database environment
- Driving root‑cause analysis for database incidents; document and implement corrective and preventative actions
- Have relevant experience and a Bachelors diploma in Computer Science or related field
- Have deep expertise in MySQL 8 internals, including schema/index design, optimizer behavior, InnoDB and replication
- Have deep expertise in Proxy
SQL and Galera Cluster - Have in-depth knowledge of Linux (performance, file systems, I/O, process/threading, networking)
- Be proficient in Python and shell for tooling and automation
- Have understanding of computer networking (TCP, TLS, load balancing, DNS, routing/NAT, firewalls) and how it impacts databases
