Data Engineer, Cloud Computing
Location: Town of Poland
At Blip, architecture is more than design, it’s the backbone of scalability and trust. Our data ecosystem powers billions of daily interactions, and we’re evolving it to support next-generation AI and decision systems.
We’re seeking a Staff Data Architect to shape our enterprise-wide data architecture, defining blueprints and bringing them to life to guide engineers, analysts, and AI systems toward interoperability, efficiency, and governance at scale.
This role blends deep technical execution with strategic architectural leadership, perfect for someone who thrives in both whiteboard design sessions and hands-on implementation.
Your MissionYou’ll own the end-to-end architectural vision for how data flows through Blip, from ingestion to processing, from modeling to governance, and from analytics to AI.
You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to design and evolve architectures that are robust, cost-efficient, and adaptable to an increasingly intelligent, real-time ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities- Define and maintain architectural standards and patterns for data ingestion, modeling, curation, and serving layers (OLTP, OLAP, streaming, and AI).
- Design logical and physical data models across systems, ensuring domain alignment, lineage, and semantic consistency.
- Collaborate with domain teams to evolve a shared, federated data architecture aligned with business outcomes.
- Partner with Platform and Engineering teams to design and implement scalable, cost-efficient, and reliable data infrastructure leveraging cloud capabilities (Azure & GCP) — but not limited to managed services.
- Lead modernization and migration initiatives, defining transition paths, refactoring opportunities, and architectural guardrails for data products.
- Ensure architectural patterns enable both real-time and analytical use cases, supporting streaming and batch pipelines seamlessly.
- Embed governance principles into every layer of solution design, ensuring lineage, access control, and data quality are foundational.
- Define taxonomies, metadata models, and quality frameworks that unify analytical and operational data assets.
- Partner with Governance teams to operationalize standards through automation and platform integration.
- Act as an architectural authority, influencing system evolution, modernization roadmaps, and design reviews across data domains.
- Mentor engineers and architects, codifying best practices and raising the engineering bar across teams.
- Promote architectural consistency and shared ownership through collaborative design sessions and reviews.
Experience
- 6+ years in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, or large-scale distributed system design.
- Proven experience designing and evolving distributed data architectures using GCP or equivalent (AWS/Azure).
- Hands‑on expertise with streaming and real-time event‑driven systems (Kafka, Pub/Sub, Flink).
- Deep understanding of data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) and storage paradigms across analytical and operational systems.
- Advanced English skills.
- Strong foundation in Python
, SQL
, and modern data modeling techniques (3NF, Data Vault, Dimensional, Event‑based). - Solid understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), CI/CD, and observability principles.
- Familiarity with data governance tools such as Dataplex or Open Metadata
, and standards like RBAC/RLS and DLP
. - Comfortable working hands‑on across data engineering stacks to validate and evolve architectural designs.
- Experience implementing Model Context Protocol (MCP),
agentic systems
, or semantic modeling for AI‑driven environments. - Exposure to cross-domain data mesh or federated governance frameworks.
You’ll join a company with global ambitions and a highly motivated Data team, working to reshape how businesses interact with customers through conversational AI and intelligent platforms. Here, you won’t just build systems, you’ll help shape the foundation of what’s next.
