We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Database Administrator to take ownership of managing, optimizing, and scaling MS SQL Server and AWS RDS (SQL Server) environments. This opportunity offers an exciting chance to lead database operations for enterprise-grade systems, work closely with development teams, and ensure system reliability, scalability, and top-tier security.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and optimize MS SQL Server and AWS RDS (SQL Server) databases across production, staging, and development environments
• Perform advanced query profiling, performance tuning, and index optimization for large, mission-critical databases
• Monitor and troubleshoot database performance using native and third-party tools
• Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies, ensuring high availability and data integrity
• Collaborate with application development teams to design and implement efficient database architectures, stored procedures, and data access strategies
• Conduct capacity planning, performance benchmarking, and cost optimization for AWS RDS deployments
• Ensure database security, compliance, and audit readiness
• Lead root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to ensure system reliability and uptime
• Document database architectures, procedures, and performance baselines

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in MS SQL Server database administration, including performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization
• Strong experience with AWS RDS for SQL Server, including migration, scaling, and maintenance
• Deep understanding of SQL internals, replication, clustering, partitioning, and high-availability configurations
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional development and Dev Ops teams
• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Cloud Watch, Redgate, Solar Winds, SQL Profiler)
• Excellent communication skills, fluent in English (both written and verbal)

• Scripting experience (Power Shell or Bash)
