* Operates equipment loading recyclables onto conveyors, loading into baler hopper, dumping recycling baskets and loading scrap metal, white goods, and glass into roll-offs.
* Operates loader and skid steer loading recyclables onto conveyors, moving cardboard, wood and metals into appropriate areas and moving recycling baskets in and out daily; roll-off containers and compactor.
* Operates rotary broom to sweep and scrub tipping floor.
* Operates forklift transporting and loading bales of recyclables onto semi-trailers.
* Checks recycling and residual baskets under sorting lines and replaces when full.
* Services equipment by greasing and blow out filters, does pre trip inspections daily.
* Operates light equipment and assists on the sorting line when needed.
* Able to communicate and properly use handheld radio.
* Operates balers, strappers.
* Fuel equipment as needed.
* Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies.
* Participates in special projects and other duties as assigned
* Experience with heavy equipment is required.
* Must be able to lift to 50 pounds or more with assistance.
* Must be 18 years of age.
* Must have good driving and safety records.
* Valid Driver’s License in North Carolina or another state
* High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
* Experience as a Mechanic
* NC CDL
* Acuity, far – clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. Must be able to see from a distance when administering and observing employment tests, operating a motor vehicle, or addressing an audience.
* Acuity, near – clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. Must be able to see work-related business documents close at hand.
* Depth perception – Three-dimensional vision and the ability to judge distance and space relationships.
* Field of Vision – the area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are focused on one point. Must be able to see a wide span of area.
* Accommodation – Must be able to adjust the eye lens to glance quickly.
