The candidate will have the opportunity to conduct basic and applied research at the Department of Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology on the biodegradation and detoxification of xenobiotics that pose a particular threat to the environment, including endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs), microbial elimination of heavy metals, characterization of the proteome and lipidome of filamentous fungi involved in xenobiotic degradation, microbial synthesis of nanoparticles, antimicrobial activity of nanoparticles synthesized biologically and chemically, and the biological activity of postbiotics.
The candidate should demonstrate advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of microbial biotechnology and industrial microbiology, as well as a track record of publications in these fields in peer-reviewed journals listed in the JCR database. They should have experience in research and development, as well as theoretical knowledge and experience in:
- culturing bacteria and filamentous fungi
- applying toxicity tests
- applying gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and liquid chromatography (LC/MS/MS), MALDI TOF/TOF techniques
- applying confocal microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM)
- cell culture
- performing PCA statistical analysis
DUTIES:
- fulfilling duties in accordance with the University and Faculty strategy,
- preparing and conducting teaching classes,
- conducting and participating in research and development work,
- implementing international mobility for research purposes,
- performing functions and tasks assigned by superiors,
- disseminating research or development results by publishing them in scientific journals from the Journal Citation Reports list,
- improving one's professional qualifications, including for the purpose of obtaining further academic degrees and titles,
- acquiring funds for research by applying in national and international competitions.
The candidate must meet the following criteria and have:
- master's degree in biotechnology, obtained no later than five years before the competition closing date, recognized in Poland
- 300 points from publications >100 points from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW) or patents, including at least one publication >100 points from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as first or corresponding author
The candidate is expected to:
due to the requirement for teaching, the candidate must have experience in conducting laboratory classes and tutorials in microbiological biotechnology and be fluent in Polish. The candidate should also have competences in preparing scientific texts, research projects, computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, Corel Draw), and demonstrate a good command of English.
