Offer Description

If you want to work with a dynamic team of crystallographers at the Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Biotechnology of the Jagiellonian University as part of your doctoral studies at the Jagiellonian University Doctoral School, we invite you to collaborate with us on this grant “Structural Dynamics and Transport Mechanisms of Chloride-Pumping Rhodopsins: A Comparative Study Across Microbial Lineages”

The project involves structural and functional studies of marine halorhodopsins. Mutagenesis followed by functional assays will be used to assess the function of key residues. A cutting‑edge method in structural biology, time‑resolved serial crystallography, will reveal the details of protein dynamics. Combining both approaches will provide a comprehensive description of the chloride transport mechanism. Comparison with related halorhodopsins will allow insights into evolutionary adaptations of halorhodopsins.
