We invite applications for the position of Assistant Professor (research and teaching track) at the Faculty of Physics and Applied Computer Science of AGH University of Krakow. We are looking for an active researcher with a strong scientific record (experience in leading research projects and completed postdoctoral fellowships is welcome), who is ready to teach courses in physics or computer science.

The specifically sought research and teaching specializations are listed in the competition requirements. An outstanding candidate may succeed in the competition even if they do not meet all additional criteria. The position is offered for 24 months with the possibility of extension up to 33 months. Employment for an indefinite period requires prior completion of postdoctoral fellowship(s) with a total duration of at least 12 months.

The target department in which the candidate will work will be determined after the competition, according to the candidate’s expertise.

Full‑time employment starting in March 2026.

• 1) a doctoral degree in a discipline within the fields of Natural sciences or Engineering and technology.
• 2) scientific achievements in the discipline of Physical sciences.
• 3) active participation in conferences and symposia.
• 4) organizational achievements.
• 5) experience in teaching physics or computer science.
• 6) experience in conducting academic courses.
• 7) command of English at least at the B2 level.
• 8) command of Polish at the C1 level, if it is not the applicant’s native language.

Additional requirements:

• a) knowledge of detection systems used in modern high-energy physics experiments, including sensors and / or readout electronics.
• b) experience in mathematical/computational modeling or advanced data analysis in one of the following areas: medical physics, environmental physics, statistical physics, solid‑state physics or modern high‑energy physics experiments.
• c) experience in Monte Carlo simulations in interdisciplinary problems.

• a) thermodynamics, statistical physics and quantum mechanics.
• b) fundamentals of computer science, programming languages, the Linux operating system and C++.
• c) data analysis and artificial intelligence.
• d) medical physics or environmental physics (e.g., environmental transport phenomena).

• 3) a completed postdoctoral fellowship or postdoctoral fellowships with a total duration of no less than 12 months.
• 4) experience in obtaining research funding from institutions outside the applicant’s employing unit.
