The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

Requirements

  • MSc in astronomy.
  • A good record of publications in refereed scientific journals in the discipline of astronomy.
  • Knowledge of the Polish language at a level that allows conducting classes in this language (in the case of foreigners, confirmed by a certificate corresponding to the C1 level).
  • Candidates for the competition should be professionals with a record of published scientific achievements in the discipline of astronomy. Preference will be given to candidates with strong scientific independence, a good record in the analysis of photometric and spectroscopic observations of variable stars, and programming experience useful in the automated analysis of large astrophysical data sets.

Auxiliary requirements

  • Experience in collaboration with scientific groups.
  • Experience in conducting astronomical observations will be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Scientific work in the field of astrophysics, particularly in the variable star research. Conducting astronomical observations at the Białków Observatory and, if necessary, at other Polish or foreign observatories, participation in scientific meetings, preparation of scientific publications, active participation in scientific conferences. Conducting research, participation in scientific meetings, preparation of scientific publications, active participation in scientific conferences.
  • Teaching of 240 h/year.
  • Participation in scientific events organized at the IA UWr. Participation, if necessary, in committees, councils and other bodies established within the IA UWr and the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy.

  • Self-presentation (information about scientific, organizational, and other achievements).
  • List scientific publications in the last ten years.
  • Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers representative of his or her scientific achievements or an explanation of the lack of them.
