The State Police have launched a new recruiting effort to attract qualified candidates to join one of the most respected law enforcement organizations in the country—New York State Police.

• Must be a citizen of the United States and at least 20 years old by the Final date to receive applications.
• Must not have reached their 30th birthday by the Final date to receive applications, with age extensions available for each year of full-time active Federal military duty, up to 6 years.
• Must have 60 college credits; no degree necessary.

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must be appointed prior to their 36th birthday; age extensions as above apply.
• Must be a New York State resident with a valid New York State driver's license.
• Must pass a Physical Ability Test (PAT): sit-ups, push-ups, and a 1.5-mile run.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts, including holidays.
• Vision:
  Uncorrected vision no worse than 20/100 in each eye, correctable to 20/20; color blindness disqualifies.
• Appearance:
  Must present a neat and professional appearance; tattoos and body art must not be visible in uniform or business attire.
• Education:
  
  High school diploma, equivalency diploma, or military GED, plus 60 college credits (exceptions apply).
• Additional:
  Must be of good moral character; felony convictions or dishonorable discharges disqualify.
• Must complete medical, vision, hearing, background, polygraph, and psychological evaluations.
