Overview
Our client is looking for a Traveling Scenic Carpenter to support trade shows, corporate events, and large-scale scenic installs across the country. If you enjoy building cool environments, working with your hands, and being part of fast-moving event crews, this role is for you. Most of the work focuses on setup, teardown, scenic assembly, and making small onsite adjustments to keep everything looking sharp.
Responsibilities- Assemble, set up, and strike scenic elements for trade shows and corporate events
- Follow build drawings and onsite direction to ensure scenic pieces are installed correctly
- Handle basic onsite repairs, touch-ups, and alignment adjustments
- Work with common scenic materials (wood, metals, plastics, fabrics, laminates)
- Collaborate with production managers, crew leads, and other vendors onsite
- Maintain safe work habits in busy event environments
- Support load-in/load-out, packing, and prepping scenic items for transport
- Travel regularly and adapt to fast-paced event schedules
- Experience in scenic carpentry, live events, theater, fabrication, or general construction
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools confidently and safely
- Comfortable lifting 50 lbs., climbing ladders, and working long event days when needed
- Willingness to travel frequently, including occasional weekends
- Positive attitude, adaptability, and ability to work well with onsite teams
- Basic comfort reading drawings or following onsite build instructions
No formal certifications or shop training required — just solid hands-on skills and a great work ethic.
