The Role:

As a Staff QA Engineer I, you contribute to the quality assurance process by developing and executing both manual and automated tests to ensure our software meets the highest quality standards. You work closely with development teams to identify, reproduce, and document bugs, while also designing robust test plans and strategies to ensure product reliability. Your expertise in testing methodologies helps guide the team in adopting best practices, and you act as a mentor for junior engineers, helping them grow their testing skills.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for new features and bug fixes
  • Build and maintain automated test suites to ensure continuous integration and delivery
  • Perform manual testing on new product features and regression testing for product releases
  • Work with development teams to reproduce, analyze, and troubleshoot complex issues
  • Document test cases, processes, and defects to maintain a thorough QA documentation system
  • Implement and improve existing QA methodologies, ensuring the team follows best practices
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to refine requirements and ensure test coverage
  • Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts
  • Mentor and coach QA engineers across regions, providing support on test design, automation, and defect investigation
  • Review and improve existing automated testing frameworks and tools
  • Communicate test results clearly to developers and stakeholders

While this role starts as an individual contributor, we expect the person to gradually take on leadership responsibilities after fully onboarding into the team and the codebase (typically within ~1–3 months). As part of this growth path, the Staff QA Engineer will:

  • Lead technical initiatives across squads and guide the long‑term testing strategy
  • Drive cross‑team quality improvements and influence architectural decisions
  • Provide technical leadership for automation projects and framework evolution
  • Mentor and coach QA engineers, helping them level up in automation, test design, and quality mindset
  • Take ownership of coordination across engineering, product, and Dev Ops
  • Over time, take on selected people‑leadership responsibilities (e.g., coaching, supporting growth conversations, and leading team‑wide quality efforts)
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in QA engineering, with a focus on both manual and automated testing
  • Proficiency in automated testing frameworks (i.e., Selenium, Cypress, TestNG, JUnit)
  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) tools (i.e. Git Lab, Git Hub)
  • Solid understanding of software development and QA methodologies
  • Experience working with bug tracking and test management tools (i.e., JIRA, Test Rail)
