Founding Engineer

At Air Club we are focused on transforming the in‑person fitness industry through best‑in‑class software. We are building modern all‑in‑one business software solution for gyms, fitness studios and fitness entrepreneurs, and engaging digital experiences for end‑fitness consumers. We are an exceptionally high performing team with prior experience at Amazon, Google, and the Boston Consulting Group.

As a founding software engineer at Air Club, you will have a significant impact on the success of our company as we go from 0 to 1. This is a high‑impact, high‑visibility, high‑growth position on the founding team of a venture‑backed startup. You will…

• work with our founders to set the foundation for our engineering org from a technical and cultural standpoint.
• own large portions of the product, design and build core parts of a high‑performance, secure, and user‑focused web or mobile application. You will have real autonomy, and have an opportunity for rapid promotion as you grow with our company.
• build and lead a team around yourself as the company grows, and bring best practices for writing clean, secure, readable code.
• get exposure to things beyond your immediate skill set - from recruiting the early team, to defining operational best practices. You will experience all different aspects of how to grow the company from day 1.

Your day‑to‑day will vary as you solve for whatever is blocking our growth. You will be building both consumer and business facing features to handle things like P2P messaging, CRM functionality, virtual and on‑demand fitness, class booking & scheduling, membership management, payment processing, etc.

• Self‑starter – you are comfortable rapidly learning new technologies and turning a high‑level task into a game plan.
• 5+ years of engineering experience with a C‑style language – we use Type Script, Golang and more. I’m no stickler on language and technology choices. Pitch me on any framework you’re passionate about and let’s make it happen!
• Experience with AWS, Dev Ops (docker, k8s, CI/CD etc.), and a fast‑paced startup environment is a plus.

• are a high performing self‑starter who appreciates ownership, accountability, and high‑velocity environments.
• are motivated by seeing your code in production the day it's written.
• feel comfortable with the lack of structure and wearing multiple hats (e.g. Frontend, Backend, Dev Ops, talking to customers, etc.).
