Job Description Summary:
Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimal learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. They will be responsible for delivering quality instruction and actively participating in the college community.
Under general supervision, this individual will develop, prepare, and teach courses in the Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Training Program. The faculty member must be able to instruct a wide variety of related subjects.
Duties/Functions:
Teaching
Prepare & teach departmental courses, including:
Developing learner-centered lesson plansEmploying teaching strategies & instructional materials suitable for different learning stylesIncorporating current technology appropriately in classroom and laboratory environmentsCreating a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student populationPreparing, distributing, and utilizing instructional support materials such as course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devicesConducting assessments of student learning outcomes in courses and programs as appropriateProfessional DevelopmentMaintain a professional status supporting the instructional mission through:
Participating in professional development activities to stay current in the fieldMaintaining necessary credentials or licensures as requiredEngaging in opportunities to enhance teaching skills and strategiesAdministration
Provide oversight of facilities, equipment, and student records, including:
Maintaining classroom and laboratory spaces and equipmentEnsuring security of facilities, equipment, and materialsMaintaining student records (grades, attendance) using technology platforms such as Colleague, Web Advisor, MoodleComplying with all relevant regulationsStudent Support
Create an environment conducive to student success by:
Promoting retention and persistence through student success strategiesReferring students to campus and community resourcesConducting recruiting activitiesModeling employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility, and teamworkAdditional
Duties and Responsibilities:Maintain student recordsPerform all duties as assigned by supervisorEducation Required:
Associate degree in a health-related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institutionCurrent certification as a Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) issued by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution IncEducation Preferred:
Bachelor's degree or higher in a health-related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institutionKSA Required:
The instructor shall possess an understanding of and commitment to the role of the Community College, particularly its mission to serve diverse student populations and support community engagement.
