• Assists the pharmacist under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies.
• Responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assists with and coaches pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers.
• Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
• Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving issues and answering questions to ensure a positive experience.
• Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
• Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers.
• Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assists in the practice of pharmacy, reviews and complies with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicines, and checking for interactions; assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
• Reports prescription errors immediately and adheres to company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
• Adheres to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
• Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash, and takes customers to OTC aisle when possible.
• Handles telephone calls requiring pharmacist attention, including those to physicians.
• Processes manual claims for third party program prescription services timely and performs other clerical duties as assigned.
• Assists Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, storing, and filing warehouse overages, shortages, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
• Assists pharmacists in administering clinical services, labeling samples, coordinating with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
• Assists in developing and maintaining relationships with local medical community and health care providers through outreach.
• Assists in interior maintenance ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, and orderly.
• Complies with all company policies and maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
