Position: PHYSICAL THERAPIST

Overview

  • This is a full-time Physical Therapist position at Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC).
  • Schedule:

    80 hours every two-week pay period, typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, with occasional evenings and weekends for sports coverage. Holiday work is as needed. Position includes helping with Jamestown High School sports medicine game coverage.
  • Compensation: $15,000 Sign On Bonus for New Employees.
Responsibilities
  • Assess patients of all age groups (infants to geriatrics) and develop, plan, and implement a therapy program using prescribed physical means (exercise, massage, heat, water, light, electricity).
  • Apply diagnostic and prognostic tests for muscles, nerves, joints, and functional abilities.
  • Direct and aid patients in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, and gait/functional training using equipment as appropriate.
  • Provide instruction in posture control and therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient.
  • Direct patients in the care and use of wheelchairs, braces, canes, crutches, and prosthetic/orthotic devices.
  • Adapt physical therapy techniques to meet patient needs when verbal commands or standard exercises are not feasible.
  • Evaluate, document, and report patient progress for review by the rehabilitative team; complete documentation per JRMC quality standards.
  • Assist in updating JRMC policy, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Utilize JRMC excellence tools; conduct in-services and/or training for medical and nursing personnel and other workers in physical therapy techniques and objectives.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Preparation and Training:
    North Dakota license to practice as a physical therapist; CPR certification every other year; CPI training within the required timeframe per department orientation checklist.
  • Work Experience:

    One year of physical therapy experience is preferred but not required.
  • Attendance:
    Punctual and regular attendance is essential; must report to work as scheduled and remain for the entire shift.
  • Analytical Ability:
    High level of analytical ability; continuously assess and adjust treatment plans and schedules for efficiency.
  • Independent Judgment:
    Work under supervision of the Rehab Manager; able to operate with a high degree of autonomy; treatments are physician-referral based.
  • Communication / Interpersonal Skills:
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with staff, patients, families, and visitors.
  • Welfare of Others:
    Maintain confidentiality and consider the welfare of patients and staff in all duties.
  • Mental/Visual Effort:
    Strong reading, writing, concentration, and attention to detail; able to work under schedule and performance standards; adequate vision for charts and equipment; color perception for testing procedures.
  • Working Conditions:

    Primarily in the Rehab Department or hospital; may travel to schools or patients' homes; driving required; physical demands including walking, lifting, bending; adherence to JRMC Safety Management and Standard Precautions; exposure to blood borne pathogens as Category I position; may require irregular hours including weekends/holidays.
