Job Title: Painter
Employment Type: Full Time
Shift: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM
Pay Rate: Starting at $19.00/hour, Full Benefits Package
Location: Jamestown, ND
A Painter is responsible for applying protective or decorative coatings—such as paint, enamel, glaze, gel-coat, or lacquer—to machines and manufactured products using various application techniques and equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities- Cleans grease and dirt from product.
- Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
- Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray.
- Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat.
- Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.
- Removes rust from metal with acid, wire brush, or steel wool.
- Operates pneumatic, electric, or manual overhead chain hoists to properly move heavy parts into position for coating.
- Operates forklift to move parts to and from other locations of the assembly operation.
- Operates various tools such as hammers, pneumatic grinders, impact wrenches and drills.
- Maintains respirator and other personal protective equipment in proper operating condition.
- Abides by all company, state, and federal safety rules and/or regulations.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to follow methods and procedures.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and shop drawings.
- Detail-oriented and consistent.
- Works well as a productive member of a team.
- Basic proficiency in mathematics, reading, and writing.
- Must have the ability to work rapidly and under pressure for extended periods of time in order to meet build requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Knowledge of manufacturing materials, processes, and specifications preferred.
- Mechanical experience is preferred.
- Must have manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
- Must be able to see details at close range.
- Must be able to lift 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Must be able to navigate facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, bending, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
- Wear and work in personal protective equipment.
- Must pass a Respirator Medical Evaluation to determine ability to perform the job.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Noise level is moderate to loud.
- Frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles.
- Exposure to heat/humidity during summer months.
