Job SummaryThe ECE Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for all children. They design and implement age-appropriate learning activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive and physical development.
Major ResponsibilitiesPlan educational activities that support social, cognitive, emotional and physical development.
Attend to the children’s basic needs, including feeding themselves and helping with potty training.
Ensure that the classroom is welcoming, clean and safe for the children.
Promote cooperative play, sharing, and communication among the children.
Provide regular updates on children’s progress and any concerns.
Work closely with other teachers, assistants and administrators to ensure consistency in classroom management and educational goals.

Requirements Qualifications- High School Diploma, or equivalent; advanced degree in child development preferred
- 1-3 years’ experience working with children with at least 240 hours working as an assistant teacher in a group child care setting
- Completion of Four (4) credits in Early Childhood Education; or Two (2) non-credit department approved courses in Early Childhood Education.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Ability to provide a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for children.
- Detail-oriented with good communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to develop a team approach with staff, volunteers and community partners.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; enthusiastic, warm and approachable.
- Experience working with culturally and economically diverse populations.
- Good judgement when making decisions.
- Ability to lift and carry children up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, and sit on the floor for extended periods.
- Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods.
