SHINE Technologies is seeking a Structural Engineering Manager to lead the planning, development, and execution of civil/structural design requirements and engineering support processes for a nuclear non‑power reactor facility. This position is primarily on‑site in Janesville, WI, but hybrid work arrangements will be considered. The base salary range for this position is $130,000 – $180,000 per year plus a comprehensive compensation package.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of civil/structural engineers, external consultants, and the contracted Engineer of Record design firm.
  • Manage SHINE employees, including hiring, performance management, training, and ensuring team standards are achieved.
  • Manage construction/modification projects and system configuration through drawings, procedures, and design documentation.
  • Ensure the team develops detailed structural designs and specifications; evaluate methods, resolve complex technical problems, and review drawings.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for structural design and modifications required for equipment replacement and repair/modification of the facility.
  • Regularly meet and coordinate with internal and external design and construction teams.
  • Prepare or assist in developing safety‑related documentation, such as safety analysis and safety plans required by NRC regulations.
  • Lead the development and implementation of structural calculations, design criteria, design drawings, sketches, and specifications for facility structural requirements.
  • Verify and review all civil/structural design calculations and vendor documentation.
  • Provide day‑to‑day management and approval on technical matters related to structural engineering issues.
  • Perform assignments in accordance with ES&H, security, and business practice requirements and policies.
  • Interface with the team and provide direction on schedules, contracts, estimates, scope of work, and related requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited program.
  • Professional Engineering License in Wisconsin preferred.
  • Minimum five years of related management experience leading civil/structural teams.
  • Engineering change process experience.
  • Knowledge of 10

    CFR
    50.59 process.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply safety basis requirements to systems, structures, or components in nuclear facilities.
  • Experienced in design reviews and design review preparation.
  • Experience with structural analysis methods such as soil–structure interaction, seismic analysis, and accident or pushover analysis for hazardous facilities.
  • Experience with nuclear facilities and ability to interact with licensing and NRC regulators.
  • Component and system design experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
  • Requires frequent leaning, bending, stooping, crouching, grasping, and reaching above the shoulders and below the knees.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average weight objects up to 40 lb or standing and/or walking for more than four hours per day.
  • Fine motor coordination and strong depth perception is beneficial.
  • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
