Automotive Controller - Dealership

Well-established, family‑owned dealership in Rock County, WI is seeking an experienced Automotive Controller to join their team. The successful candidate is an experienced Automotive Controller who is honest, trustworthy, and has the dealership’s best interests t be well‑versed in all areas of automotive accounting. The Controller hired will oversee a small accounting team and will be responsible to close out the month end financial statement.

This person will report directly to the Dealer Principal who is supportive of the Controller structuring their department as they see best fit for long‑term success. It’s important that the Comptroller hired is a clear communicator, structured, and promotes a positive workplace culture.

• Oversee daily accounting operations and month‑end close process
• Ensure accuracy of all financial statements, schedules, and reports
• Work closely with the Dealer Principal and GM and department managers to support store performance and financial goals
• Monitor cash flow, bank reconciliations, and floorplan accounts.
• Maintain internal controls and safeguard dealership assets
• Train, develop, and manage accounting personnel.
• Cross‑train accounting team
• Monitor daily operating control reports and identify variances.
• Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts.
• Oversee and maintain internal controls to prevent fraud and ensure data accuracy.
• Coordinate with department managers to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
• Monitor cash flow, contracts, and factory schedules
• Prepare and review budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses
• Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and manufacturers
• Ensure compliance with OEM, state, and federal regulations
• Provide leadership, guidance, and training to accounting team members
• Other duties as assigned

• Proven experience as an Automotive Controller in a dealership environment
• Strong knowledge of dealership accounting systems and best practices
• Ability to lead under pressure while maintaining accuracy and timeliness
• High integrity and discretion with sensitive information

• Compensation in the $100,000 - $120,000 range depending on experience and track record.
