Extrusion Plastics Manufacturing / Operations Manager
Location:
Southern Wisconsin / Northern Illinois
We’re seeking an experienced, hands‑on Extrusion Manufacturing / Operations Manager to lead all plastic sheet extrusion operations. This role owns production performance, safety, quality, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement across shifts in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
This is a leadership role for someone who knows extrusion from the floor up and can coach teams while driving measurable operational results.
Key Responsibilities- Lead daily plastic sheet extrusion operations and supervise production teams across shifts
- Own production output, quality, safety, and on‑time delivery
- Lead capital equipment selection, installation, commissioning, and startup
- Coordinate maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance
- Hands‑on support for extrusion line and auxiliary equipment troubleshooting
- Manage resin suppliers, equipment vendors, and outside contractors
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, downtime, and operating costs
- Track, analyze, and report key performance metrics (OEE, scrap, uptime, throughput)
- Partner with engineering and maintenance on repair plans and timelines
- Maintain strong communication across shifts, departments, and leadership
- 8+ years of plastic sheet extrusion experience
, including 5+ years in a leadership role - Strong experience with polypropylene (PP) sheet extrusion
- Proven expertise in extrusion equipment setup, troubleshooting, and process optimization
- Solid working knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and PLC systems
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and GMP environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and hold teams accountable
- Strong communication, organization, and basic computer skills
- High‑impact leadership role with operational ownership
