We are seeking a Diesel Mechanic for our Janesville, WI terminal.

Schedule: All shifts available, possible 4‑day work week.

Pay: Up to $37.80/hr for 1st shift with CDL & ASE incentives; up to $40.30/hr for 2nd shift with CDL & ASE incentives.

Incentives: Training available for incentives. Mechanic Tool Reimbursement Program.

Position Summary

Mechanics are responsible for safely and efficiently maintaining Dohrn fleet vehicles.

Essential Functions
  • Operate and inspect mechanical equipment to diagnose defects.
  • Analyze malfunctions and perform general overhaul, tune‑up, or preventive maintenance of equipment.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment.
  • Plan work procedures using charges, technical manuals, and experience.
  • Repair, replace, and adjust necessary units and parts.
  • Enter labor lines and parts into repair order computer system.
  • May travel to other company shop locations when staff is needed.
  • React to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum age: 18.
  • High school completion or equivalent.
  • Valid driver license.
  • Command of English language to communicate effectively.
  • Must pass a non‑DOT physical examination and functional screen. (CDL‑qualified mechanics subject to DOT physical.)
  • Must consent to a pre‑employment drug screen; negative result required.
  • Preferred: journey‑level diesel mechanic experience.
  • Preferred: CDL, ASE, and state/federal inspection certifications.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques for repair and maintenance of automotive and mechanical equipment.
  • Working knowledge of operating principles of gas and diesel engines and repair of heavy trucks.
  • Previous experience maintaining detailed and routine record keeping.
  • Manual dexterity required.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety precautions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently.
  • Excellent attendance.
Working Conditions /

Physical Requirements
  • Overtime may be necessary during peak periods; must work varied schedule or travel as needed.
  • Heavy work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently and 100+ lbs occasionally to lift, push, pull, or move objects.
  • Work inside and outside under varied environmental conditions; outside work may involve extreme weather.
  • Standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching for sustained periods.
  • Ambient noise may require shouting to be heard.
  • Hazards include moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, and exposure to chemicals.
  • Exposure to respiratory aggravating substances such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, and gases.
  • Requires close visual acuity for operating machines, inspecting small defects and parts, and using measurement devices.
