Overview

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in-house clinical team at Crookhey Hall School. Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, guiding practice within an education setting and clarifying roles and responsibilities.

You will be given responsibility for holding a Speech and Language therapy caseload, with the full support of your designated clinical supervisor and site lead, and you may contribute to staff training and consultation as required. This post would suit a resilient, creative and enthusiastic individual.

Responsibilities
  • Hold and manage a Speech and Language therapy caseload with clinical supervision support.
  • Deliver bespoke SLT assessment and intervention for pupils with developmental trauma, neurodiversity or SEMH needs in an educational setting.
  • Collaborate with the education team and multidisciplinary colleagues to support pupil outcomes.
  • Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy; HCPC registered.
  • 1–2 years of experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT, working in a similar setting.
  • Experience engaging with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working in a range of settings and communicating with/working with families, relatives and carers.
  • Interest in developing knowledge and skills across different areas of SLT practice.
  • Strong relationship-building, analytical and judgmental skills; good written and verbal communication; good time management and organisational skills.
  • Competence in core SLT areas and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
  • Knowledge of SLT assessment tools, types of intervention, and formulating support plans based on needs profiles.
  • Awareness of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management in relation to the client group.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications relevant to the client group.
  • Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (essential).
Desirable
  • Experience of working in settings with sensory and motor considerations that may impact communication.
  • Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
Location & Schedule

Location:

Crookhey Hall School – Lancaster LA2 0HA
. Crookhey Hall School forms part of our Acorn Education brand, and is an independent specialist day school, supporting children and young people aged 10 – 17.

Hours:

37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Contract:

Permanent (Term time only, or flexibility around a full-time contract can be discussed based on your personal circumstances).

Salary & Benefits

Salary:
Up to £53,200 FTE DOE plus £3,000 Welcome Bonus (Welcome Bonus is payable as £1,500 after completion of one month and a further £1,500 upon completion of your final probation period. T&C's Apply).

CPD:
We offer a £2,000 training allowance to support continued professional development after probation.
