Technology and Independence Officer (Nights) – 30hpw
Location: Technology and Independence Service, Jarrow Town Hall
Salary: £28,598 pa pro rata (£14.82ph) plus 10% Shift Allowance
The world of Technology Enabled Care is expanding every day with new technologies and digital solutions that can support people to remain safe and independent in their own homes. We are looking for individuals enthusiastic about providing this type of support to residents of South Tyneside.
Key Responsibilities• Respond at the frontline of our Alarm Receiving Centre to emergency calls from individuals in crisis, liaising with Responders and Emergency Services to ensure the most appropriate support is dispatched swiftly and effectively.
• Handle vital out‑of‑hours calls relating to Council and Housing, coordinating with colleagues and partners to keep the Borough running around the clock.
• Install and service the latest Assistive Technology equipment prescribed by our assessment team, helping residents to remain independent.
Shift Pattern and Working HoursThis 24/7, 365‑day service is delivered to principles that meet TSA Quality Standards. The role follows a rota that typically includes:
- Three nights on followed by two days off
- Three nights on followed by eight days off
- Three nights on followed by two days off
You will work within a supportive and proactive team of TEC professionals with an agreed goal of providing an effective and efficient Assistive Technology service. Full on‑site training will be provided, and the role also opens up opportunities for additional learning, training and progression within South Tyneside Council.
