** A Brief Summary of This Position
** The Back Welder 5 position is an individual contributor. This person must be a highly driven individual that will weld metal components together to fabricate or repair products according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders using a variety of welding equipment.
** Essential Functions

*** The employee must maintain safe and productive work environment producing a quality product which is shipped complete and on time to satisfy the needs of the customer.
* The employee has a direct impact on safety, quality, productivity, TME (total manufacturing expenses), and customer satisfaction.
* The employee is responsible for own work.
* Read and decipher flat sheets without assistance and use them to properly weld scheduled work.
* Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty.
* Make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery.
* Ability to work independently the majority of the shift
* This position reports to the Production Supervisor.
* Submit two (2) safety contact cards on a monthly basis
* Actively participate in department LEAN activities and demonstrated performance working in a team environment
* Demonstrate knowledge of Valmont’s quality procedures, standards, and practices
** Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
*** Maintain a safe and productive working environment.
* Wear the required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations.
* This position requires flexibility and the ability to work in different work areas as needed
* Ability to regularly meet or exceed production goals while not sacrificing safety or quality.
* Ability to read weld symbols, WPS (welding procedure specifications) and understand flat sheets.
* The ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings.
* Ability to operate overhead cranes
* Must be able to use and accurately read a tape measure.
* Able to lift, push, pull or tug up to 50 pounds.
* Communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner.
* The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions.
* Must be able to square or round product into tolerance
* At least one (1) years of minimum welding experience
* AWS certified welder operator qualification
* Must have a high awareness for safety at all times.
** Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
*** One to two (1
- 2) years of previous, hands-on MIG welding and SAW experience in a production environment
* One to two (1
- 2) years of previous experience in a professional welding position
