Mechanic Asssistant

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mechanic Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting mechanics in maintaining and repairing vehicles and equipment, performing routine maintenance tasks, and ensuring a clean and safe working environment.

• Fuel, grease, and lubricate trucks and other internal combustion equipment. Service batteries and other mechanical parts.
• Perform safety inspections on vehicles and equipment; conduct routine repair work under the supervision of a mechanic.
• Change and repair tires; install and service batteries, spark plugs, light bulbs, fan belts, and other simple mechanical components.
• Assist mechanics in the performance of mechanical repairs as required.
• Pick up and deliver parts, supplies, and vehicles as needed.
• Repair and overhaul various grounds equipment, including hand and power mowers, tractors, and snow blowers.
• Wash trucks and equipment.
• Clean the garage, dump trash, sweep, and mop floors.
• Perform various operations and maintenance duties involving combustibles, asbestos, or other hazardous materials, utilizing appropriate safety equipment and disposal procedures.
• Operate vehicles on public roadways.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

• Experience
  
  Required:
  
  Minimum of one year of experience in maintaining and servicing equipment.

• Assist other personnel as needed to support the completion of work activities.
• Fuel assigned vehicles to maintain them in a safe operating condition.

• Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Skills to operate trucks and equipment safely, communicate effectively, evaluate schedules, and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of vehicle operation, basic maintenance requirements, and driving codes.
• Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, work independently, and make common-sense decisions in potentially critical situations.
• Significant physical abilities, including lifting in excess of 50 lbs, climbing/balancing, reaching/handling, and talking/hearing conversations.
• Visual acuity for near/far depth perception and visual accommodation.
• Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent.

• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Good visual acuity for detailed work and driving.

• Working independently and making quick decisions in potentially critical situations.

The posted salary or pay compensation ranges are approximate and dependent on applicable experience and qualifications. Upper ranges are flexible.
